A naming ceremony is a beautiful way to welcome a new baby into a family, a community and the world. It is a joyful celebration that gives the parent or parents the opportunity to express their love and commitment to their child and their aspirations for his/her future. Throughout history special moments are marked by a party, a feast or a celebration.  A naming ceremony gives the opportunity to mark one of the most significant events in a family’s life in a meaningful and memorable way.

It is a non-religious ceremony that can be very inclusive of other family members, for example siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Once a booking is confirmed I will arrange to meet the parent/parents to discuss the ceremony and what they would like to include.  Before the meeting I will email them a booklet with suggestions on readings, poems and rituals.  After the meeting I will email the parent/parents a personalised draft script of the ceremony.  I then work with them over the coming weeks or months until the script is finalised.  On the day I will conduct the ceremony in a professional, warm, friendly manner and leave the family with lifetime memories.

A Humanist naming ceremony can take place at a hotel, a park or the family home.
